Arif: the knower
Salik: traveller (to god).
Talib: Seeker (of god).
Ashik-i-sadik: sincere lover (of God).
Hal: mystic state.
Tarikat: the path (to god).
Marifat: (divine) knowledge.
Hakikat: Truth.
Shariat: one of the shar.
Shauk: desire.
Zauk: delight.
Manzil: stage.
Sahaba =companions in the 1st generation of (after) muhammand (sal)
Tabiin=companions in the 2nd generation of (after) Muhammad (sal).
Zahidan,abidan =devotees in the 3rd generation of after Muhammad (sal)
Pir: the founder of religious order.
Shaikh: the chief of a convent.
Khalifa,naqib: deputy sheikh.
Murshid: spiritual guide,the sheikh.
Murid: disciple.
